Festive Fun At Regen Schemes

Festive fun at our regeneration schemes

Communities came together to celebrate Winterfest at Grahame Park and Woodberry Down.

We were so pleased with the amazing turnout for our Winterfest at Grahame Park. Residents enjoyed a range of activities including a winter market, arts and crafts and wonderful local Caribbean food.

For many the highlight of the day were the Bollywood dancers that performed in the main hall. Residents were quick to tell us that they want to see them make an appearance at next year’s event.

Our popular resident DJ Dave made a return and for the first time we had a gospel choir perform outside on the concourse. As for the popcorn and candy floss stands, the residents voted with their feet (and mouths), and there was none left by the end of the day.

Never missing a chance to consult the residents, our team were also on hand to answer questions about the regeneration.

Events like Winterfest remind the regeneration team how tight knit Grahame Park’s diverse community is. It was heartening to see residents from all backgrounds and ages join in the festivities together.

It was clear to see the strong bond between the regeneration team and the residents - that special relationship is something we continue to nurture and value.

Over at Woodberry Down the celebration was marked by the new Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodley, turning on the Christmas lights. She said a few words beforehand about how delighted she was to step into the role and the importance of community events like this one. And, of course, there was with no shortage of mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas tunes.

Merry Christmas from everyone on the regeneration team – we hope you all have a wonderful time.
