The historic Royal Docks in Newham were once the largest enclosed docks in the world, surrounding 250 acres of water. Today the area is undergoing extensive redevelopment, with new commercial, retail, arts, leisure and community facilities and thousands of new homes.

NHG’s Royal Albert Wharf scheme is a key element of this wider regeneration, with more than 1,800 new homes, over 8,000m² of commercial space and extensive areas of dockside and riverfront public realm. The scheme is an assembly of three adjacent sites located between Royal Albert Dock and the River Thames and has been masterplanned in consultation with local communities. Phase 1 of Royal Albert Wharf won the 2018 RICS London Residential Property of the Year Award, the RIBA London Award and the Brick Award for Large Development. Over 1,400 homes were completed by the end of 2023, with the ten-year development programme scheduled to conclude in 2025. At least 40% of the new homes will be affordable housing.
