Advising Communities provide legal advice, debt advice, financial inclusion and multilingual services.
They also have specialist staff offering financial advice for people with mental health needs and low wellbeing.
Provide help to vulnerable people to live independently in the community, ease exceptional pressure, avoid serious damage or risk to health and safety and meet immediate short term needs in an emergency or a disaster. Claims can only be made by telephone 0208 359 4242 between 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
Local Welfare Assistance (LWA) is a discretionary support scheme.The primary objectives of this scheme are to help: people in short-term need because of a crisis or emergency support vulnerable people in the community ease exceptional pressure on families LWA payments are made to help people who do not have an alternative means of paying for what they need. The payments are intended to meet one-off needs rather than on-going expenses.

Providing community support and crisis awards. Community support award to help you return to the community after being in care, stay in your home rather than go to care, care for a prisoner or young offender, pay for certain travel expenses. Crisis award can help with essential costs after an emergency or disaster you don't need to be on benefits to apply.
